Workshop Announcement: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Stein's method and applications in high-dimensional statistics ---------------------------------------------------------------- August 6 to August 10, 2018 American Institute of Mathematics Research Conference Center San Jose, California http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/steinhd ------------ Description: ------------ This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, is devoted to the applications of Stein's method to address modern, practical questions in high-dimensional mathematical statistics. The overarching theme of the workshop will be the development of new methods in high dimensional data analysis by applying recent advances in probabilistic methods. The workshop is organized by Jay Bartroff, Larry Goldstein, Stanislav Minsker, and Gesine Reinert. For more details please see the workshop announcement page: http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/steinhd Space and funding is available for a few more participants. If you would like to participate, please apply by filling out the on-line form (available at the link above) no later than February 6, 2018. Applications are open to all, and we especially encourage women, underrepresented minorities, junior mathematicians, and researchers from primarily undergraduate institutions to apply. -------------------------------- AIM Research Conference Center: -------------------------------- The American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) hosts focused workshops in all areas of the mathematical sciences. AIM focused workshops are distinguished by their emphasis on a specific mathematical goal, such as making progress on a significant unsolved problem, understanding the proof of an important new result, or investigating the convergence between two distinct areas of mathematics.
