Partial differential equations and conformal geometry

August 29 to September 2, 2022

at the

American Institute of Mathematics, San Jose, California

organized by

Vincent Bonini, Sun-Yung Alice Chang, Matthew Gursky, and Jie Qing

This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will bring together experts and active researchers in geometric partial differential equations that are working on problems in conformal geometry and related topics. The goal is to to take advantage of the pattern of rich interactions between these research fields.

The main topics to be discussed in the workshop include:

  1. Asymptotic analysis on asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds
  2. The anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondences in mathematical physics correspondences in mathematical physics
  3. Partial differential equations in conformal geometry

This event will be run as an AIM-style workshop. Participants will be invited to suggest open problems and questions before the workshop begins, and these will be posted on the workshop website. These include specific problems on which there is hope of making some progress during the workshop, as well as more ambitious problems which may influence the future activity of the field. Lectures at the workshop will be focused on familiarizing the participants with the background material leading up to specific problems, and the schedule will include discussion and parallel working sessions.

The deadline to apply for support to participate in this workshop has passed.
