Workshop Announcement: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Complexity of mappings in CR geometry ---------------------------------------------------------------- September 11 to September 15, 2006 American Institute of Mathematics Research Conference Center Palo Alto, California http://aimath.org/ARCC/workshops/complexitycrmap.html ------------ Description: ------------ This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will study mappings in CR geometry. Participants will focus on a quite specific part of this general subject, namely the relationship between the complexity of a CR mapping and the complexity of the CR structures on the domain and target manifolds. The workshop has three principal goals. The first goal is to determine the fundamental notions of CR complexity and to prove sharp results about these notions. The second goal is to organize CR complexity theory into a broad framework that will be useful in CR geometry and also apply to other parts of mathematics. The third goal is to bring active senior researchers and young mathematicians together to work in a focused manner that will forge interactions and guide future research. The workshop is organized by Peter Ebenfelt and John P. D'Angelo. For more details please see the workshop announcement page: http://aimath.org/ARCC/workshops/complexitycrmap.html Space and funding is available for a few more participants. If you would like to participate, please apply by filling out the on-line form (available at the link above) no later than June 11, 2006. Applications are open to all, and we especially encourage women, underrepresented minorities, junior mathematicians, and researchers from primarily undergraduate institutions to apply. Before submitting an application, please read the ARCC policies concerning participation and financial support for participants. -------------------------------------- AIM Research Conference Center (ARCC): -------------------------------------- The AIM Research Conference Center (ARCC) hosts focused workshops in all areas of the mathematical sciences. ARCC focused workshops are distinguished by their emphasis on a specific mathematical goal, such as making progress on a significant unsolved problem, understanding the proof of an important new result, or investigating the convergence between two distinct areas of mathematics.
