I am most interested in the numerical techniques applicable to the strong field regime, in visualization, and in the investigation of lensing signatures characteristic of or unique to the strong field limit of astrophysical black holes. The observational detection of any such features would be of obvious value in the study of known black hole candidates.
I will make freely available a carefully implemented and well-tested numerical software package for integrating arbitrary geodesics (null, timelike, and spacelike) in the Kerr spacetime geometry. The code implements a modified and generalized version of the approach described in Rauch & Blandford (1994). The package can be viewed as a robust reference implementation and would be suitable as the foundation of an open development project to provide a numerical `toolbox' for the investigation of the detailed lensing properties of Kerr black holes.
