Workshop Announcement: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Modeling the eye as a window on the body ---------------------------------------------------------------- October 15 to October 19, 2018 American Institute of Mathematics Research Conference Center San Jose, California http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/eyewindow ------------ Description: ------------ This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will be devoted to bringing together experts in mathematical modeling, medical doctors and statisticians to share their perspectives and expertise with the final goal to develop a mathematical model linking the eye to the body. The eye represents a unique organ where first signs of systemic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, emerge and may be assessed with non-invasive techniques. The workshop is organized by Lucia Carichino, Simone Cassani, Sergey Lapin, and Alice Verticchio Vercellin. For more details please see the workshop announcement page: http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/eyewindow Space and funding is available for a few more participants. If you would like to participate, please apply by filling out the on-line form (available at the link above) no later than April 15, 2018. Applications are open to all, and we especially encourage women, underrepresented minorities, junior mathematicians, and researchers from primarily undergraduate institutions to apply. -------------------------------- AIM Research Conference Center: -------------------------------- The American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) hosts focused workshops in all areas of the mathematical sciences. AIM focused workshops are distinguished by their emphasis on a specific mathematical goal, such as making progress on a significant unsolved problem, understanding the proof of an important new result, or investigating the convergence between two distinct areas of mathematics.
