Workshop Announcement: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Nonstandard methods in combinatorial number theory ---------------------------------------------------------------- August 14 to August 18, 2017 American Institute of Mathematics Research Conference Center San Jose, California http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/nscombinatorial ------------ Description: ------------ This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, hopes to further develop the use of nonstandard methods in combinatorial number theory and Ramsey theory. For example, recently nonstandard methods have proven useful in problems about configurations of sumsets in sets of positive density as well as partition regularity of equations. Our aim is to continue to explore these and other directions leading to a greater understanding of the role that nonstandard methods could play in this area of combinatorics. The workshop is organized by Mauro Di Nasso, Isaac Goldbring, and Martino Lupini. For more details please see the workshop announcement page: http://aimath.org/workshops/upcoming/nscombinatorial Space and funding is available for a few more participants. If you would like to participate, please apply by filling out the on-line form (available at the link above) no later than March 14, 2017. Applications are open to all, and we especially encourage women, underrepresented minorities, junior mathematicians, and researchers from primarily undergraduate institutions to apply. -------------------------------- AIM Research Conference Center: -------------------------------- The American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) hosts focused workshops in all areas of the mathematical sciences. AIM focused workshops are distinguished by their emphasis on a specific mathematical goal, such as making progress on a significant unsolved problem, understanding the proof of an important new result, or investigating the convergence between two distinct areas of mathematics.
