Bounded gaps between primes

In April, 2013, Yitang Zhang of the University of New Hampshire announced a proof that infinitely many pairs of prime numbers differ by a fixed constant. The result is a major step toward the twin primes conjecture, which asserts that infinitely many pairs of prime numbers differ by 2.
