Original Announcement
This workshop will bring together
authors and contributors of Open Education Resources (OERs); instructors of real world application in math courses; pedagogical
experts; and experts in authoring OERs to collaborate on the development of real world application-focused OERs.
The goals of
the workshop include:
- Accelerating progress on existing, in-development OERs, including the growing body of resources for introductory and
quantitative reasoning courses,
- Generating collaborations aimed at the development of OERs for advanced math courses incorporating topics that are timely
and impactful to communities,
- Building a long-term collaboration between instructors, authors, and researchers
The topics of the workshop include:
- Using open source tools (e.g. PreTeXt) to create and share open education resources available in various formats,
- Using asset-based mindsets necessary for teaching current topics,
- Equipping instructors with strategies for engaging in current topics and math in partnership with and in service to
