Brian Greene is a mathematician and physicist at Columbia University who has been working on the unified theory of "superstrings," or string theory, since receiving his PhD in 1987 from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes' Scholar. Popular accounts of his work on "Mirror Symmetry" have been reported in Science, The Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere. His book, "The Elegant Universe; Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory", published by W.W. Norton, was on the New York Times Bestseller list for months, reaching the number 4 spot. It was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. He has lectured in more than 20 countries and has appeared on numerous talk shows.
