Original Announcement
This workshop will be devoted to the structural theory of discrete amenable
groups, and new examples of amenable and non-amenable groups. In
particular, our discussions will be centered around recent techniques
of proving amenability/non-amenability for groups acting on sets and
topological spaces and new probabilistic, geometric, and analytic
methods.
The main topics of the workshop are:
- New and potential examples of non-elementary amenable groups.
Structural theory of amenable actions.
- Contracting self-similar groups, groups generated by automata of
polynomial activity growth, groups of interval exchange
transformations and their analogs.
- New examples of non-amenable groups, amenability of equivalence
relations and groupoids.
