Developing regional networks of Math Teacher Circles
at the
American Institute of Mathematics, Pasadena, California
organized by
Nathan Borchelt, Sloan Despeaux, and Brianna Donaldson
This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, will be devoted to equipping Math Teacher Circle (MTC) leaders to establish or reestablish MTC networks in their state or region. Regional networks enable MTC leaders to share resources and responsibilities efficiently. Through activities like summer workshops, leader meetings, facilitator exchanges, and mini-grants for local MTCs, these networks serve as powerful infrastructure supporting growth and sustainability for the MTC community in an entire state or region.
The primary goals of the workshop are:
- Building relationships with other regional MTC leaders from around the country
- Sharing knowledge and experience about starting and sustaining a regional MTC network
- Planning how to implement regional MTC networks in participants’ own areas
Workshop activities will include hands-on MTC sessions, information-sharing sessions focused on the nuts and bolts of regional MTCs (including vision and activities, recruitment, funding, and sustainability), and networking sessions. Participants will leave the workshop with a "business plan" for their network, including actionable next steps.
The deadline to apply for this workshop has passed.
